December 2020 Newsletter

December Quote: For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when it’s mighty founder was a child himself.~ Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol”

Hello December and Hello the most wonderful time of the year to be a kid again!! First things first… The next CWR kit will be available December 15th and the theme is “Journal Your Story” (Insert Happy Dance) Yes I think documenting the everyday…what you see, smell, taste, hear is not only important documentation but good for the soul! Here is the pair that will be the theme for the kit…

Now, let’s talk about an exciting new project I have had on my To Do list for a very long time….a 4 x 6 sticker book. This is using one of the inexpensive photo albums that you can pick up at Walmart and I’m sure at other stores. This little book will be in the December CWR kit! I have made a fun cover and a NEW sticker size to fit into this cute little sticker book:

CWR Sticker Book

Starting this month I will have a new sticker size in the CWR kit and when you purchase stickers alone. I plan to change all the stickers to this size. I still have the 7 x 3 size available in my shop BUT I am planning on having a bundle sticker sale to move those out and make room for the new size! Be sure to check mid- December for that sale.

Starting today, I am so excited to kick off my December Daily Journal! As I mentioned in the November newsletter I will be following Doodle prompts following #DOLLYSDOODLECHALLENGE and PHOTO PROMPTS (see below)

I am also going to be using my December Journal as just that..my journal for the month. In the past, I would typically used it as more of a memory book for the kids or like a scrapbook. As life changes and the kids grow older, I am finding different things to write and document. So it will be my December Daily and my day to day documentation that I would typically do in a separate journal. ANNNDDDD…. speaking of journals..I have FINALLY made my decision on the journals I plan to use for 2021. A basic Composition book…but you know it won’t be basic. I still plan to add all the things to JUNK it up! A video will be coming soon!

I’m finishing up Mindy Lacefield’s Holiday Flair class this month too. I was honored to ask to teach and show how I paint this illustrated house.

Looking ahead into next year, I am going to be hosting an in person CAMP WONDERLAND. The overnight spots are full, but we still have DAY CAMP space open. This will include SATURDAY all day full of creating, lunch and FUN! There is hotels near by and Air BNB’s if you need a place to stay. Junk Gypsy is right down the road! to Sign up check out Craft Destinations website.

Well you guys, I hope you can make this time of the year as MAGICAL as can be! To help you with this, I have a fun PRINTABLE for you.. My Christmas Tree Girls as Tags. Print out, cut and add fun ribbon or tulle. I plan on using these cuties for neighbor gifts I plan to give.

Please check back and watch Instagram and Facebook. I hope to BLOG more about how I’m making this time magical.

XO, Rebecca

December Daily Play and Questions Answered

Hello an Happy almost December! Believe me, I am not rushing time BUT I am excited to start documenting in my December Daily Journal. In this video I’m creating a page to document the Christmas Tea we had a couple of weeks ago and creating a page for the Christmas Planning I have added to the back of my DD journal. I am also answering the questions I received on my Instagram. Thank you for them, it was fun to answer. See you in my next video!

Hark – November’s CWR Kit Now Available

The “Hark” CWR Kit was inspired by a childhood photos of my mom. When she was a child, she and her siblings would have a Christmas performance for her grandparents. Oh how I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see my mom. She dressed as an angel. I absolutely love the photo and wanted to create a kit around it, what better way then to have a kit themed around Jesus’ birth.  I wanted to create a kit for you that brought out the true meaning of Christmas with Angels of a heavenly Host to urge “Peace on Earth”and good will towards men.

I hope this kit brings you peace and love for the most wonderful time of the year.

Creative Christmas Series- Christmas Tea (DIY Christmas Crackers)

Hello! Today is the final day for the Creative Christmas Series and we are going to have a Christmas Tea. This will be a two part video. The first video I am making DIY Faux Christmas Crackers to include in the little gifts I will be giving our guests and I show a little sneak peek into how I plan and my paper copy of Pinterest. So I’m off to make cookies, put on Christmas Music and finishing setting the table. We have guests coming! Rebecca

Creative Christmas Series~ Gaudy Christmas Pin

This fun little project is just plain FUN! We all have heard of the Ugly Christmas Sweater, well how about adding a Gaudy Christmas Pin to the mix! They make a great conversation piece. The fun thing about this project you can make them what ever color you like to fit with your party outfit! For example the first half of this video is creating a traditional red and green with a touch of blue brooch. The second half is making one for my daughter which she wanted all red. The one I made for myself is pink and candy themed! So many possibilities! What will you make for yourself?

Happy Creating, Rebecca

Creative Christmas~ Felt Santas

I have made so many of the felt star shaped Santas. The first time I made them I was a stay at home mom with my son. I was watching HGTV everyday, remember when it was all crafting and food? So I was one crafty babe and decided to make all felt ornaments for the Christmas tree. I want to include this story in my December Journal so I also made a Santa without the stuffing. Can’t wait to see what you create, be sure to tag me at #CWRCREATIVECHRISTMAS

I have put together a template to help with the Santa Shapes, you can print it here:

Creative Christmas~ Bells will be Ringing

Welcome to Video number 6 in the Creative Christmas Series! Today is all about creating with BELLS! I love the sound of jingle bells at Christmas! I was inspired by this project from when I created jingle bell bracelets for my daughter’s girl scout troop when they were going to sing carols at the Austin Library.

In this video we are creating three different Jingle Bell project. I love the pens and pencils you can buy with the jingle bells at the top, in this video I show you how to make your own. We are also going to make a paperclip junk charm. These are so fun because you can theme them anyway you like. Endless possibilities. Most of all have fun and let’s JINGLE ALL THE WAY! Rebecca

Creative Christmas~ Make a Mixed Media Paper Angel Ornament

I have included a template below with a sheet of music paper, and the ornament size along with the shape of the angel dress. In the video I use a paper doily that can be purchased at any craft or baking shop. If you are unable to purchase one, cardstock or paper can be used as well. Have fun creating your sweet little angel! Rebecca

Creative Christmas~ Coloring Books: Picking a Childhood Memory

Hello and welcome back to the Creative Christmas Series! Today is all about picking a childhood memory from Christmas and recreating it. For me that is coloring in a new coloring book with a brand new set of Crayons. Every year my mom would give me and my sisters a Christmas Coloring book and a brand new set of Crayons. We would lay on our stomachs under the Christmas tree and color by the twinkle of the Christmas Lights. Also in the video I show a quick flip of my scrapbook I kept when I was about 13 years old. Christmas brings on all the nostalgic feelings! Have fun “being a kid” again in choosing your memory! Rebecca
