Creative Christmas Day 2~ Make an Artsy Advent Paper Chain

Hello! Welcome back to the Creative Christmas Series. Today we will be making an Artsy Paper Chain! When I started looking for projects to create in this series, I asked Facebook and IG followers about what they loved creating as a kid. So many mentioned the Paper Chain Countdown where you tear off a chain link a day to count the days until Christmas. So let’s be a kid again and make a Paper chain! I thought it would be fun to add paper bits to each chain link and once I tear them off use them in my journal as the days, for example Day 1, is December 1st. These are super easy and fun to make. See below for the free printable of the round Peppermint Numbers. I hope you enjoy the video and creating!

Let the merry making begin!! Rebecca

Creative Christmas Series-Day 1

Hello and Merry Christmas! Welcome to Day ONE in the Creative Christmas Series. Today I will be going LIVE on You Tube at 6 pm CST! I will be showing you Creative Station Set up along with creating a Christmas Wand! We cannot start the season without adding a little of whimsical magic! See below for a template I will be using to create a wand for my journal. I will be using a colorful paper straw for my wand handle, but you could use a wooden dowel rod, Popsicle stick or even just rolled up paper. Go to your stash and see what you have! Hope to “see” you tonight!!

UPDATE~ The live stream on You Tube didn’t quite work so I had a Live event on Instagram. Here is the link the view.https://www.instagram.com/tv/CHT4hO3JrzA/?igshid=5ile2gor5mlx

I also created a hashtag #CWRCREATIVECHRISTMAS be sure to use when posting your projects!!

November Quote: I am Grateful for what I am and have. My Thanksgiving is perpetual.

Hello November! Wow this season has just been zooming by..I’m afraid the upcoming months will be bittersweet. Here we are in the most wonderful time of the year but still dealing with the Covid Virus. One of my favorite things about this time of the year is getting together with family for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, this year we have decided to not gather for Thanksgiving. I would rather have many more holidays with my parents and by pass this one year. Although, I miss them dearly! So wish me LUCK in preparing a DINNER for just us which will include turkey, trimmings and home made rolls.

Now on a more positive note, I am so looking forward to the Creative Christmas Video Series! It will start Saturday, November 7th! Print the schedule and supply list here:

Favorite October Quote: I’m so Glad I live in a World where there are Octobers

WOOOO…OOOOO…. went the wind and OUT went the lights and the FIVE Little Pumpkins Rolled out of Sight! Who remembers that song? We use to sing it all the time as kids. Hello October! Aren’t we lucky to live in a World of Octobers! We have been blessed to with cooler weather which has been perfect for being in the most wonderful time of the year. Our mantel is set for Halloween and I want to really work on our front porch.

I believe our small community is still planning our Halloween festivities which is taking the kids on a hay ride from house to house. You have to get your house on the stops because we all live far apart from each other. I want to make my house as FUN as possible. Speaking of FUN I wanted to create a cute little project for you to color and either use in your journal or add to your Fall decor. Here a “Build a Scarecrow” you can color and cut out or use as a template to make one from pattern paper or felt.

Projects I have been working on lately is a new way of Journaling and keeping my planner. I started out creating a Happy Journal as a ‘catch all’ for all the fun ephemera I have. I wanted a place to paint, glue and add bits without rhyme or reason. Well it soon turned into my FAVORITE Book that I want to use as my calendar and journal. It’s an old Betty Crocker Ring Cookbook that I refurbished. In my Instagram stories are steps in creating the journal.

Happy Journal

I have also been painting a fun and whimsical parade, I can’t wait to finish them up… super cute and fun product line coming!

The October 15th CWR kit will be the Christmas Kit. This kit will called “Hark”. The art for this kit is inspired from a photo of my mom when she played an angel in her family’s Christmas Program.

As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, a new video series is coming in November, A Creative Christmas.

I have limited kits in the shop. The kits are filled to the brim with everything you will need for the series PLUS additional fun Christmas items.

Here is the printable schedule and supply list:

This month’s FAVORITE thing is this AMAZING Polka Dot Tulle!

Wishing you a great October!! Rebecca

September Art and Journal Entry

Let’s Dance!! It’s beginning the most wonderful time of the year! I want to enjoy every bit of the seasons to come. I think we can all agree 2020 has just been an extremely weird year, but I am putting on my rose colored glasses and pulling out the autumn leaves and ready to start decorating for fall. I also plan to add a bit of Halloween in the mix. Typically this time of the year I am so busy making product for shows, I don’t stop and smell the Pumpkin Spice long enough to enjoy the season. This year it is going to be different. The Pandemic has really helped me focus and slow down a bit. I am painting more which is my most favorite thing to do. I am so grateful for the time of rediscovering my passion and to PLAY!

The September CWR stationery/planner/journal kit is “Cozy Autumn Days” I will be using the new Simple Stories ” Cozy Days” line to curate a perfect autumn kit! What do you think of when you think of Cozy? Here is a few illustrations of what I think of, this is a printable and can be use in your journal/ planner or notebook.

Also, one of my Favorites Autumn things to make is PUMPKIN COOKIES! Oh yes, these are like little pumpkin bread cakes. I will be making a batch soon to send to my little sister, these are are favorite too! I had to share the recipe with you, see below for the recipe.

This month I will be taking another Mindy Lacefield’s art class, called Happy Haunts…so excited. I really enjoyed her Mystic Unicorn School class. I will be makinga junk journal binder for all things Halloween (video coming soon). I also signed up for a course called Fearless Art by Shawna Clingerman. I’m really excited and hoping to learn to take that leap of complete faith and focus on what my next stepping stone as an Artist.

SAVE THE DATE: November 7-14th, 2020. I will have a new video series in the works for Christmas! It’s going to be a “Creative Christmas” Series filled with Journaling, Christmas projects and Fun! There will be a few live videos on Facebook as well.

Well that is a wrap for this month’s Newsletter! Let me end with another Favorite Thing!

Who remembers these colorful pencils from when you were a kid? When you write the lead changes colors. I used them in the Mystic Unicorn School and on some of my journaling pages. They are so fun! Brings out the inner child!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy September!
