July 2020 Newsletter

Painting is just another way of keeping a diary~ Pablo Picasso

Hello and welcome to July’s Creative Hoots Newsletter! This month has just flown by, and has had some unexpected moments and twists and turns. I am working on keeping a positive attitude and working on ways to add delight, happiness and color to my world! Also, let me introduce you to the star of the upcoming July CWR stationery/ planner/ journal kit! Miss. Smarty Pants!! She is so excited to be part of the next kit… I’ll give you a hint…SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!!

Let’s talk journals vs. diaries. I have always thought the two were the same, but they are actually two different explanations for both. The description I found is a a diary is used to record daily activities and document events that happened. A journal is more of a personal documentation that contains feelings, emotions, problems and used to examine your life. Overall keeping a journal or diary is a permanent personal record and should be respected. I fill my journal with quotes, drawings, memorabilia, ephemera, photos… this to me is called creative junk journaling!

Brazos and I have started a new project, The Dream Cottage. I say NEW, but in reality she has actually had the “The Dream House” dollhouse for several years. We have finally decided to “get it completed”, although I really see this as an ever changing project. It was in need of a paint job. Now to start on the floors, windows, lighting, etc. We are transforming the little sunroom off the kitchen into the “Sparkly Dream Room” Oh yes imagination is ready to soar!

Speaking of Imagination…. I recently signed up for an ecourse with Mindy Lacefield. “Mystic Unicorn School” embracing my innerchild in a land of make believe and having creative fun with rainbows, unicorns and GLITTER!!! I painted and put together a junk journal using a personal size ring planner. So FUN!!

Upcoming this month, Crafty Destinations and Kelly Bangs Creative are hosting another FUN virtual class for Decorating your bulletin board! I will be teaching a workshop on adding a little something sparkly to your bulletin board! Class Is July 23-25, 2020 so there is still time to register.

There was sadness this past month. Mr Fluffers aka Sonny Bunny, our orange super fluffy kitty past away. He was with us for 10 years. We had this Sun tat I painted a bright yellow and drew a little orange cat to shine on him. He was so personable, and is missed so much!

Summer Days are upon us, today the heat index is going to be 106 degrees here in Central Texas…WAH! BUT as someone that always tries to look on the BRIGHT side I created a fun little art doodle page of all the things I love about summer days! I wanted you to enjoy it to, so I created a printable sheet. These would be fun to add to create with!

New Favorite Thing this month~ My Caboodle for traveling with my paints!

Just another reminder, the DIY painting video will be coming up this month! Keep an eye out on social media to the announcement! Thanks for stopping by!

Nostalgic Summer Memories~ Video 3: Documenting Using HEARING

Hello and welcome back to Nostalgic Summer memories using your senses. In today’s video number 3, I am showing a way to Document using your sense to hear. Music and television was a big part of our summer as a kid and in this video I show how I am documenting them. It’s very different then what it is now because once the good shows were over then boredom kicked in. Thankful for my sisters so I did have someone to play games and other activities. I created a pocket envelope and mini junk tag that resembles ice cream and the ice cream packaging.

The printable template for them is available on my blog under the post for this video.Hope you are inspired to create using the sense of hearing.

Yay! Hello and welcome to Documenting our Summer Nostalgic memories Video series! This series will run for seven days and each day will give examples of how to document using your senses! I love the idea of documenting about your favorite nostalgic movies, food, or events that you want to remember. Endless possibilities! In this video, I will be showing you my journal I plan to use and my “Creative Station” with all the things I plan to document with. A free printable is located on the blog, posted on Sunday, June 7th. . Thanks for watching and I will “see” you tomorrow when we will be talking about sight!

Wash Day Printable

A few weeks ago I took a photo of these adorable handmade vintage Barbie Doll dresses I picked up at Trade Days in Warrenton, Texas a while back. They are so sweet with their hand stitched hems. I thought they would make an adorable banner, gift tags or journal ephemera. I definitely wanted to share with you, so I painted a wash tub and rubber ducks and made a WASH DAY printable. Ta Da! Now go hang your troubles out to dry!

Please tag me in your projects, i would love to see how you are using these adorable dresses!
